Fmoc-L-Cys(Acm)-OH (9-Fluorenylmethyl Chloroformate-S-Acetamidomethyl-L-Cysteine) is a protected amino acid commonly used in peptide synthesis.

 

In peptide synthesis, the amino and carboxyl groups of each amino acid residue require protection to prevent cross-linking or polymerization during peptide chain assembly. Fmoc-L-Cys(Acm)-OH is an amino acid derivative that can serve as an effective protecting group for the thiol group of cysteine residues. It offers good stability and effectively blocks the thiol group from undergoing undesired reactions during peptide chain synthesis.

 

In addition to its use in peptide synthesis, Fmoc-L-Cys(Acm)-OH can also be employed in the synthesis of other compounds containing an amino group, such as drugs, bioactive molecules, etc.
