It is a derivative of protected amino acids, which stabilizes the amino side chain by protecting the amine with the N-tert-butoxycarbonyl group.

 

In peptide synthesis, Boc-D-Ser-Oipr is often used as a derivative of D-serine, facilitating the synthesis of peptides containing D-serine. Due to the relative scarcity of D-serine in nature, using Boc-D-Ser-Oipr provides a convenient way to introduce the D-serine unit.
