In the cosmetics industry, BOC-L-Pyroglutaminol is used as a moisturizer with better moisturizing ability than commonly used moisturizers such as glycerin, propylene glycol, and sorbitol. It also has whitening effects due to its inhibitory activity against tyrosine oxidase, which prevents the deposition of melanin and thus brightens the skin. Therefore, it can be used as an additive
