The AEEA (aminoethyl ethanedioic acid) moiety, on the other hand, may be utilized to introduce specific side-chain structures, which often impart specific biological activities or improve the pharmacokinetic properties of polypeptide drugs. For instance, in some anti-diabetic polypeptide drugs, such as GLP-1 receptor agonists, the introduction of an AEEA side chain can significantly enhance the hydrophilicity of the drug molecule, increasing its binding affinity to albumin, thereby prolonging its half-life, reducing the dosing frequency, and improving patient compliance.

 

OPFP (pentafluorophenol ester), as a carboxyl protecting group, is commonly used to protect the carboxyl group of amino acids or peptide segments during polypeptide synthesis, preventing undesired esterification or amidation reactions. Under appropriate conditions, the OPFP protecting group can be removed, exposing the free carboxyl group for subsequent coupling or modification reactions.
