Application
Fmoc-Tyr(tBu)-Aib-OH is a key intermediate used in the synthesis of tirzepatide, a dual glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and weight management.
Facilitating Solid-Phase Peptide Synthesis (SPPS): The Fmoc group protects the amine of the amino acid during SPPS, allowing controlled and sequential addition of amino acids to form the tirzepatide peptide chain. After coupling, the Fmoc group can be removed selectively using a mild base, leaving the free amine ready for the next coupling step.
